The HS Concert Band will be having a clinic during 1st and 2nd period on Friday the 24th at the HS Band Hall. We will be welcoming Mr. Charles Pennington to the podium. Mr. Pennington is the head director of the Allen High School Band from Allen TX and is a Southwestern Oklahoma State University graduate. The Allen Band is the largest band in the state of Texas. 2012 Spring Contest and Trip
New Braunfels
April 27-29, 2012

Okay folks… here it is!!!! Your chance to win a trophy and have a blast at Schlitterbahn!!! Troubadour Consultants has helped us put together a fantastic affordable trip for everyone! You will not want to miss out on this one! Anyone who needs help with payments will need to participate in our next fundraiser or two. Most of you already have enough funds in your student activity account from previous fundraisers. Please see Mr. Polk with any questions.

Trip Includes:
Two nights lodging, Two extended bright side breakfasts, participation in the Sound Waves Music Festival, Admission to Schlitterbahn Water Park, Lunch included at the park, Festival t-shirt.

Trip Cost: $140.00 (students may use their band student activity account)

Depart – 4:00pm on Friday, April 27
Contest/Water Park – All Day Saturday, April 28
Return – 6:00pm to Kemp Sunday, April 29

Payment #1 – $50 due February 15
Payment #2 – $50 due March 7
Final Payment – $40 due April 4

UIL Solo/Ensemble SUCCESS!!

Mr. Polk took 46 high school band members to the UIL Solo and Ensemble
contest at Mesquite High School this past Saturday.

They received 41 FIRST DIVISION medals and 28 students advanced to the
State UIL Contest in May.

The Band Boosters are starting to collect STUFF for our annual GARAGE SALE.

Please bring your things to the Taylor’s garage.
We will take almost anything furniture, clothes (no undergarments), toys, knick-knacks, household items.

If you bring clothes please leave them on hangers (wire hangers preferred)

Stack all of you items in the barn by the sign.

Friday, January 20

8:30 Depart for Canton

-Drive Time

9:30-11:45 MS morning rehearsal

9:30-12:00 HS morning rehearsal

-Lunch (bring $10)

1:30-4:30 MS afternoon rehearsal

1:30-5:00 HS afternoon rehearsal with a definite break 3:20-3:45 for Concert band (allows our students into band hall for personal items)

5:15 Depart for Kemp

Saturday, January 21

8:00 Depart for Canton

-Drive Time

9:00-12:00 Rehearsal for all students and meeting for directors (HS)

12:00-12:45 MS Lunch provided by region

12:00-1:00 HS Lunch provided by region and change into concert attire

12:45-1:15 MS changes into concert attire

1:15-1:30 MS students move to HS and gather in Commons area

1:00-1:30 HS rehearsal (switch locations as usual)

1:40 MS Concert band on stage, MS Symphonic band in large band hall, and HS students report to auditorium

2:00 Concert starts with one band on stage and the next band in the large band hall warming up

Students will be riding home with Parents following the concert.

Holiday Concert and Parade Information

Just some updates!

The High School Band will be marching in the Kemp Christmas Parade this Saturday. Students need to arrive at the bandhall at 4pm with back socks, black shorts, and band shirt. We will be wearing marching uniforms. Students may wear a Santa Hat or a Black Tobaggan. Any 8th grade students wishing to march with the High School Band is welcome to come!

High School Band Concert – December 12th, 6:30pm

Be at Bandhall at 5:30pm
Students will be wearing concert uniforms, black dress shoes, (black shoes for gentlemen)

7th and 8th grade Band Concert – December 13th, 6:30pm

Students need to be at the HIGH SCHOOL BANDHALL no later than 6pm
Students need to wear 2011 Band Shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes

Beginning Band Concert – December 19th, 6:30pm

Students need to be at the HIGH SCHOOL BANDHALL no later than 6pm
