Great Job to our High School Band, Percussion, and Beginning Band for such great concerts! Our final concert is the 7th and 8th Grade Concert is Monday, May 14th @ 6:30.

For all 6th grade parents and students, here is the information for next Tuesday, May 15th:

6th grade Beginner Solo Contest

May 15th

Lucille Nash Intermediate School

4-7pm

The 6th Grade Beginner Solo Contest is a chance for beginning instrumental musicians to come together and perform a solo in a competition setting against other beginners from other schools.  Students will receive awards based on their performances, including the coveted “Outstanding Soloist” awards for each instrument category. Students will perform a solo they have learned in class. They will receive comments and suggestions from the judge in a brief session that resembles a quick private lesson.  This is a great opportunity for 6th graders to receive feedback and encouragement as they display their accomplishments after their first year of instrumental instruction.

This contest will be held after school and performances will begin at 4pm and last until 6:30pm. Estimated time of arrival home is 7pm. Transportation will be provided. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you wish to pick your child up from Kaufman after they have performed, you may check them out with a director. Also, please contact a director if you want your student to perform early in the afternoon to avoid   conflicts with evening events.

Yesterdays solo contest was such a good experience for the 6th graders. I hope it encourages them to do more contest in the years to come.
