6th Grade

Date: Friday, May 12th

Time: 6:30 A.M.

Where: Junior High Band Hall then traveling to Canton High School to Perform.

After performance we take you to the water park. We will gather everyone back at 2:30 p.m. then return home and should be back around 3:30 p.m. You will need to have a ride home because that day is early release so there will be no buses taking you home. 

7th/8th Grade

Date: Monday, May 15th

Time: 6:30 A.M.

Where: Junior High Band Hall then traveling to Canton High School to Perform.

After performance we take you to the water park. We will gather everyone back at 2:15 p.m. then return home and should be back before school is out that day.

 

6th/7th/8th Grade Attire

Girls:

Performance: Orange Polo and BLUE jeans

Water Park: You may wear a 1 piece or if it is a 2 piece you will have to wear a shirt over it.

Boys: 

Performance: Orange Polo and BLUE jeans

Water Park: Trunks

Bring your own towel and wear sunscreen!

Checking Out Details: 

If you wish to pick up your child in Canton after the water park the parent should turn in a note to the office Thursday May 11th from legal guardian(s) only. This goes for 6th/7th/8th grade, parent notes are due May 11th. If we do not have a note May 11th (prior to contest) we won’t allow students to be checked out.

Eligible Students:

You are eligible if you have passed your 9 weeks or have regained eligibility at progress report. You will also ONLY be eligible to go if you pay your $20 which includes your meal at the water park. I need that money asap. Do not wait until last minute to pay or we will not add you to the roster that will be going.  We cannot take you if you do not pay prior to the trip, no exceptions. Bring extra money to the water park if you wish to buy extra. 

 

Parents:

Are welcomed to attend the performance at Canton High School auditorium. The water park is only opened for participating band members only. The water park is not open for the public that day.

Junior High UIL Contest

Symphonic Band

When – Wednesday

Time – Show up at the band hall for first period then we will load up shortly and get on the bus to go. 10:00 a.m. is warm up time and performance is at 10:30 a.m.

Where – Canton High School Auditorium

Attire – Band Polo and BLUE jeans

Symphonic Band will be back around B lunch.

Honor Band

When – Thursday

Time – Show up to the Junior High Band Hall at 7:15 a.m. We will load up as soon as possible and take off. EAT BREAKFAST BEFORE YOU GET TO THE BAND HALL. You will not have time to eat once you get to the band hall. We warm up on stage at 9 a.m. and performance is at 9:30 a.m.

Where – Canton High School Auditorium

Attire – Band Polo and BLUE jeans

Honor Band will be back by A lunch.

Get plenty of rest the night before. Good Luck to everyone!

Pre-UIL Contest Friday March 31st

Junior High Symphonic Band and Honor Band will have contest this Friday (March 31st). Symphonic and Honor band need to arrive at the Junior High Band Hall at 7:30 a.m. We will quickly load the trailer with instruments and head over to the High School. Please eat breakfast BEFORE you get to school because you will not have time to eat breakfast at the school.

Symphonic Band  performs at 8:20 a.m. and Honor Band performs at 8:45 a.m.

Performance will take place at the High School auditorium and it is a complete contest just like UIL contest will be next week. Parents are welcomed to sit in audience.

Students must wear band polo and BLUE jeans on Friday. After the performance, we will pack up and head back to the junior high and have a regular day the rest of the day.

Itinerary for JH All Region at Scurry Rosser

What to wear – Kemp Band Polo and Blue Jeans

Time – Eat A lunch then go to band hall, we will load up and leave no later than 1:00 p.m.  We will arrive at 1:30 p.m. and go to warm up areas to sign in and practice. Auditions will start at 3:00 p.m. and will last until about 9 or 10 p.m. (it may end earlier, if times change of when we get done we will send out a remind text to update)

Food – Please bring money for concession stand. You will get hungry and want to eat.

7th graders we will pass out Band Polos to you when you arrive to the band hall December 1st. If you have not paid for your band polo we need that money now so we can give you your polo.

 

Check out procedures: Parents may check out the student with Mr. Christy or a parent sponsor. You must find Mr. Christy or parent sponsor and they must see you with your parent. The legal guardian is the ONLY one that may check out the student.

Instrument Drive

Instrument drive will be held Thursday, September the 8th at 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Award music personnel will be here during that time. This is the time to come in and ask them questions/purchase/rent instruments. Award music will bring all of the instruments they have available at that time and will set up in the cafeteria of the JH. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and they will stay open until 7:00 p.m. Be on the lookout for reminders on remind 101. If you have not subscribed to our remind 101 this would be a great time to do so. Congratulations 6th graders

6th graders attended contest at Sandy Lake today bringing home a division 1 rating trophy from all 3 judges. We are very proud of them and their hard work! Continue to work hard to accomplish great things! Congratulations 6th grade band!

Sandy Lake Information

April 15th – 6th graders
Doors will open at 6:00 a.m. We will load and will leave by 6:30 a.m. We will arrive and be ready to warm up by 8:20 a.m. and will perform at 8:40 a.m. We will be back before the end of 8th period.

April 22nd – 7th/8th graders

7th/8th graders will be called out of class at around 9:00 a.m. Symphonic band will warm up at 1:15 p.m. and perform at 1:45 p.m. Honor Band will warm up at 2:00 p.m. and perform at 2:30 p.m. We will be back around 5:00 p.m.

Everyone (6th-8th grade)

Blue jeans and band shirt for performance. You may bring school appropriate shorts to change into after the performance but must keep your band shirt on at all times. Bring a sack lunch or money for lunch at Sandy Lake. If you need a school provided sack lunch we will need to know ahead of time so we can take care of that. Bring money for the rides and tickets.

JH UIL MARCH 23TH

Symphonic band students will need to show up at the JH band hall no later than 7:30 a.m. we will start to load at that time. We will leave as soon as we are loaded. Symphonic band will start warm-ups in Canton at 8:50 a.m. and will perform at 9:20 a.m. We will be back before lunch. Once we drop off the Symphonic Band we will then load up the Honor Band shortly after they are done eating lunch at school, we will head to Canton with the Honor Band. The Honor Band will warm up at 1:00 p.m. and perform at 1:30 p.m. the students will be back before school is out. Those eligible students performing with symphonic and honor band will need to wear jeans and band t-shirt for the contest. The contest takes place at Canton High School.
