7th/8th Grade UIL Contest- March 27th

The 7th and 8th Grade band members will be travelling to Canton High School this Wednesday, March 27th to compete at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Only eligible students will be travelling with us. 7th grade will be competing in the morning and 8th grade will compete in the afternoon. Please check the appropriate list for the students that will be out at each designated time. This is a required event and will count as a test grade. Ineligible students will be completing an alternate assignment in order to fulfill this grade.

*All students must be wearing their Orange Band Polo, Black pants/black jeans, and closed-toed shoes. We cannot afford to leave anyone behind due to not wearing the proper attire.

Students will be called out of class at 8:15 am and return by the end of 4th period in order to make their designated lunch period.

Students will report to 6th period band and be with us until the end of the day. We will not return until 4:00pm at the earliest. These students will need to arrange transportation for after school transport home.

Pre-UIL Contest (7th & 8th Grade)

Pre-UIL contest is upon us! The 7th and 8th Grade Bands will be competing at Pre-UIL Friday Morning at Kemp High School. Only eligible students are allowed to compete. The list of eligible students is attached.

**What to wear: Band polo, black pants/black jeans, and closed-toed shoes

**Black pants/black jeans have been on the supply list since the beginning of the year. Please have these for contest in order for the whole group to be uniform.

7:30 am- Report to Junior High Band Hall for attendance

7:45 am- Load truck/trailer with instruments

8:00 am– Head to Kemp High School

8:30 am– 7th Grade stage performance

8:55 am– 8th Grade stage performance

9:15 am Head to Kemp Junior High for the rest of the school day

All parents are welcome to attend contest, it is free and open to the public. There will be bands performing throughout the day and a schedule has been attached for your convenience.

Make sure to be on time and present in the proper attire! Make sure to have your instrument and music!

AT&T Stadium Award Trip 12/7/18

The following students have earned a reward trip to AT&T Stadium for their fundraiser earnings. This trip will take place next Friday, December 7th. We will be leaving at 10:00am and returning before the end of the school day. They must be passing all of their classes by Thursday in order to go on this trip.
*All students must bring a sack lunch and any money for souvenirs.

JH All Region Auditions 11/29/18

The students listed below will be competing at All Region Band Auditions tomorrow 11/28/18 at Ferris High School. These students are the only ones that will be auditioning. All entries were submitted two weeks ago and it is too late to add anyone else.

*Students will need to wear their Kemp Band Polo or a Kemp shirt. This is a request not only from us but the host school and region coordinators.

**Bring money for concession stand and snacks.

ATSSB Region 3 Junior High School All-Region Auditions are this Thursday, November 29th at Ferris HS.

What is All-Region? All-Region Band is an honor band that is made up of the top students in the local area. The All-Region Band annually works with a professional clinician and performs a concert of high level music.

Who can audition? Only current 7th and 8th graders can audition.

How do auditions work? Students prepare music and come to All-Region auditions to compete. Instruments will audition anonymously for five judges, playing cuts from the All-Region Music and ATSSB Scales. Each student is given a score based on playing ability. The top percent from each instrument are then put into the All-Region Band.

Friday, we kick off our Great American Fundraiser. The funds raised directly enhance each student’s educational experience. All money raised here, stays here in our group. Your support is necessary to reach our goal. You can make a difference!

How can you help? Simply by making a purchase from the Catalogs or through our Online School Store. It is so simple! We will reach our goal if everyone participates. The Catalogs and Online Store have over 1600 items! Purchase holiday gifts, a Personalized item, or a Magazine for yourself or a partnering charity! There are many options to support your student and school!

8th Grade Night- Friday Oct. 12th

8th grade night is this Friday, October 12th. This is an amazing and fun opportunity for the 8th graders to experience playing at a Varsity football game with the High School Band.

What is 8th Grade Band Night?

  • An opportunity for 8th grade students to experience what it’s like to be in the High School Band.
  • Creates friendships that carry on throughout their High School Careers.
  • Helps bridge the gap between Junior High and High School Band.
  • Students will experience performing on the football field alongside the High School Band.

All eligible 8th graders are expected to be in attendance. This event counts as a performance grade and is also the 9 weeks final test. Ineligible students will need to complete an alternate assignment in order to meet the grade requirement.

Transportation will be provided after school for those students that do not have a ride to the High School. All students must be at the High School Band Hall no later than 5:30pm.

Date:  This Friday, October 12th

Time (estimate): 5:30pm to 10:30pm- end time depends on the pace of the game

Location: Kemp High School

Attire: Kemp JH Band Polo, blue jeans, and tennis shoes

Tickets: Student entry is FREE. Parents would need to purchase tickets to the game.

Food: The cost is $5 and covers a sandwich from Heritage Market, chips, candy, and water. Students wanting to purchase a meal deal will need to turn in order forms by Thursday during band class.
