JH Band Fundraiser!

Today we kicked off our annual fundraiser! Your student will have a packet of information. All of the information is in the packet and instructions on the many different ways you can help in this effort. We encourage everyone to participate. Remember: The money raised stays here and directly impacts each student! The profit made by your student can help pay for their supplies, instrument repairs, band polo, and the Soundpost/Splash Kingdom trip at the end of the year.

JH Band Fundraiser!

Friday, we kick off our Great American Fundraiser. The funds raised directly enhance each student’s educational experience. All money raised here, stays here in our group. Your support is necessary to reach our goal. You can make a difference!

How can you help? Simply by making a purchase from the Catalogs or through our Online School Store. It is so simple! We will reach our goal if everyone participates. The Catalogs and Online Store have over 1600 items! Purchase holiday gifts, a Personalized item, or a Magazine for yourself or a partnering charity! There are many options to support your student and school!

8th Grade Night- Friday Oct. 12th

8th grade night is this Friday, October 12th. This is an amazing and fun opportunity for the 8th graders to experience playing at a Varsity football game with the High School Band.

What is 8th Grade Band Night?

  • An opportunity for 8th grade students to experience what it’s like to be in the High School Band.
  • Creates friendships that carry on throughout their High School Careers.
  • Helps bridge the gap between Junior High and High School Band.
  • Students will experience performing on the football field alongside the High School Band.

All eligible 8th graders are expected to be in attendance. This event counts as a performance grade and is also the 9 weeks final test. Ineligible students will need to complete an alternate assignment in order to meet the grade requirement.

Transportation will be provided after school for those students that do not have a ride to the High School. All students must be at the High School Band Hall no later than 5:30pm.

Date:  This Friday, October 12th

Time (estimate): 5:30pm to 10:30pm- end time depends on the pace of the game

Location: Kemp High School

Attire: Kemp JH Band Polo, blue jeans, and tennis shoes

Tickets: Student entry is FREE. Parents would need to purchase tickets to the game.

Food: The cost is $5 and covers a sandwich from Heritage Market, chips, candy, and water. Students wanting to purchase a meal deal will need to turn in order forms by Thursday during band class.

6th Grade SoundPost/Splash Kingdom

Monday, May 21st- Soundpost Music Festival and Splash Kingdom Water Park

Eligible 6th graders that paid for their ticket will be travelling to SoundPost Music Festival and Splash Kingdom Waterpark on Monday, May 21st.

Itinerary:

  • 2nd Period: Students will report to the Band Hall
  • 8:45 amLoad truck and trailer
  • 9:15 am: Depart for Canton High School
  • 9:45 amArrive in Canton
  • 10:15 amWarm up time
  • 10:30 amPerformance time
  • 11:00 am: Load up buses and head to Splash Kingdom
  • 11:15 am: Change into swimwear and have a fun time at the waterpark
  • 2:30 pm: Change back into normal clothes and start loading buses
  • 2:45 pm: Depart for Kemp Junior High
  • 3:20 pm: Arrive in Kemp and unload truck and trailer
  • We will arrive before school is out. Students will be able to go home with normal transportation.

What to wear:

  • Concert Attire: Band polo, black pants or black jeans, and closed-toed shoes.
  • Splash Kingdom Attire:
    • Boys: swimming trunks and a shirt
    • Girls: One piece or two piece bathing suits with a shirt.
  • Recommended things to bring: sunscreen, towel, sunglasses or hat, sandals or flip flops, extra change of clothes and some extra money.
  • Each student will receive a meal token. As soon as these are passed out, they are responsible if they lose it. There are no extra meal tokens.

JH Band- Upcoming Events

We only have a few more weeks of school left and quite a few events for our Junior High students. Please make arrangements for your child on the dates that apply to them. Some events will be in the evening and some will take place during the school day.

Spring Concerts are right around the corner. Please check the date that apply to your student. These are performances and count as performance grades.

Tuesday, April 24th @ 6:30pm- 6th Grade Spring Concert @ High School

Thursday, April 26th @ 6:30pm- 7th/8th Grade Spring Concert @ High School

**Please arrive at the High School Band hall no later than 6:00pm. Wear your band polo, black pants/black jeans, and closed-toed shoes.

 

Other performances for 6th Grade & All Percussion are also coming up soon.

Friday, April 27th @ 2:00pm- 6th grade performance for the 5th graders- this will take place during school at the Junior High.

Tuesday, May 8th @ 6:30pm- Percussion Concert @ High School

**Wear your band polo, black pants/black jeans, and closed-toed shoes.

 

Soundpost/Splash Kingdom will take place in May for all Junior High bands. The cost is $25 per student and must be paid no later than May 4th. We must submit final numbers by the end of that afternoon. The cost covers the ticket to Splash Kingdom and lunch.

Friday, May 18th (All Day)- 7th/8th grade Soundpost/Splash Kingdom in Canton.

Monday, May 21st (All Day)- 6th grade Soundpost/Splash Kingdom in Canton.

JH UIL-Symphonic 3/27- Honor 3/28

UIL contest will be this week for both of our competing Junior High groups.

Symphonic Band competes Tuesday 3/27; Honor Band competes Wednesday 3/28.

**What to wear: Band polo, black pants/black jeans, and closed-toed shoes

**Black pants/black jeans have been on the supply list since the beginning of the year. Please have these for contest in order for the whole group to be uniform.

 

Symphonic Band – Tuesday 3/27

8:30 am– Students will be release from class and report to the Band Hall

8:45 am– Load trailer/bus

9:00 am– Depart to Canton High School Auditorium

10:30 am– Enter Warm-up

11:00 am– Stage Performance

11:30 am– Sightreading

12:00– Load trailer/bus

12:30 pm– Return to Kemp

1:00ish– Arrive in Kemp and unload

**Due to our return time students will either need to bring their own lunch or request a sack lunch from the cafeteria.

 

Honor Band- Wednesday 3/28

7:30 am– Report to the Band Hall

7:45 am– Load trailer/bus

8:00 am– Depart to Canton High School Auditorium

9:30 am– Enter Warm-up

10:00 am– Stage Performance

10:30 am– Sightreading

11:00 am– Load trailer/bus

11:30 am– Return to Kemp

12:00ish– Arrive in Kemp and unload

**Due to our return time, all students will eat during B Lunch.

Contest is free and open to the public. We ask that you quietly enter the building as bands are warming up, performing or sightreading throughout the day.

JH Pre-UIL Tomorrow- Symphonic/Honor

Pre-UIL contest is upon us! The Junior High Symphonic and Honor Bands will be competing at Pre-UIL tomorrow morning at Kemp High School. Only eligible students are allowed to compete in Pre-UIL contest. The list of eligible students is attached.

Attire- Black pants/black jeans, Band Polo, and closed-toed shoes

7:45 am- Report to Junior High Band Hall for attendance

8:00 am- Load truck/trailer with instruments

8:15 am- Head to Kemp High School

8:55 am- Symphonic Band stage performance

9:20 am- Honor Band stage performance

10:15 am- Head to Kemp Junior High for the rest of the school day

All parents are welcome to attend contest, it is free and open to the public. There will be bands performing throughout the day and a schedule has been attached for your convenience.

Make sure to be on time and present in the proper attire! Make sure to have your instrument and music!

AT&T Stadium Tour 12/18

Our V.I.P. AT&T Stadium Tour is tomorrow 12/18. Students eligible for the trip were given a letter last week containing information about our trip. A list of students is attached to this post.

**Make sure to bring a sack lunch**

Itinerary:

9:30am– Load bus and head to AT&T Stadium

11:30am– Tour begins

-Bring football (if you have one), sack lunch, and money for the NFL Pro shop.

1:45/2:00pm– Load bus and head back to Kemp

We will arrive back in Kemp before school is out.
