Results from Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest

Congratulations to all of our Kemp High School Band Students that competed at TSSEC in Austin on June 3rd!

Erica McGill-Marimba Solo-earned the silver medal for her performance.

Percussion Ensemble-Division I performance. Each student earned a medal-Joe Becerra, Joel Erikson, Erica McGill, Maria Mireles, Jazmin Montoya, Jesus Portillo, Nathan Salazar, Brittany Sehion, J.T. Spears, Alex Tanner, Chloe Treadaway and Raven Ayers.

Brass Ensemble-Division I performance. Each student earned a medal-Marcus Aguilar, Ali Alcasey, Andrew Haertel, David Sparks and Daisy Villanueva.

We are excited and proud of these students. They represented Kemp High School in superb fashion!

Graduation Performance May 31st. State Solo & Ensemble June 2nd-3rd.

Graduation May 31st

Band hall doors will open around 3:30pm-be here by 4:00pm

Dress appropriately for this occasion.

Nice dress (not short skirts) or dress pants/blouse for the ladies.

Dress pants, shirt/tie or polo for the men.

We will stop at Ci-ci’s pizza in Gunbarrel before heading on to Athens.

Graduation starts at 7:00pm at the new athletic complex at Athens High School.

We will return around the 10:00pmish hour.

State Solo and Ensemble June 2nd-3rd

Please have bags packed for two days. Bring all of your toiletries.

We will meet at 11:00am.

The school is providing you with $45 for meals. We would suggest you bring more. Also bring extra money for snacks and shopping at the outlet mall if you wish.

Bandtastic Band Party!

The following students have earned their ticket to the first annual Bandtastic Band Party! These students participated and fulfilled requirements for our Band Olympics that started back in January. Only the students on the list will be able to attend.

Date: Wednesday, May 22nd

Time: 4:00pm- 7:00pm (students do not have to stay the whole time)

Location: Junior High Band Hall

SoundPost Results

All three Junior High bands did a fantastic job at SoundPost music festival this week. Just like our UIL contest, bands do not compete against each other but are rated from 1 to 5.

6th grade band received a Division 2 = Excellent

7th grade band received a Division 1 = Superior

8th grade band received a Division 1 = Superior

Please be sure to congratulate our Junior High band members on a fantastic job!

Ford Test Drive Fundraiser

Band Families and Friends!!!

Come to Tri-County Ford this Saturday, May 11th from 9-3 to test drive a new Ford vehicle. One per household.

Sign a quick form (they will not bug you will sales calls), take a spin for a few miles, and the band earns $20 dollars from Ford for each test drive! Easiest fundraiser in the world!!!! Test drive the new Edge too and the band gets another $10 dollars!

All you have to do is show up!

There will be door prizes and food! Come down for a few minutes this Saturday and support you Kemp Band program!

High School Band Banquet

Tickets are still on sale for the band banquet. They are 5 dollars for a student ticket and 10 dollars per adult ticket

Last day to purchase tickets is this Wednesday, May 8th as we need to get a head count on food for the caterers.

You may still attend the awards part of the ceremony without having to eat dinner if you wish

6th Grade SoundPost/Splash Kingdom

Our 6th Grade SoundPost Music Festival/Splash Kingdom trip is quickly approaching. Please make sure to read all the information thoroughly and carefully.

Date: May 16th, 2019

Arrival at Kemp Junior High: 7:00 am

Depart for Canton High School: 7:15 am

Arrive in Canton: 7:45 am

Performance time: 8:15 am- open to the public

What to wear: Orange band polo, blue jeans, and close-toed shoes

EligibilityIf your child passed their most recent report card, they are good to go. If they didn’t pass their report card but passed all their classes on their most recent progress report, they are now good to go.

Other RequirementsTickets must be paid for by May 10th. All students must have a Medical Form on file with the band program and turn in the District Bus Code of Conduct form.

**If your child normally rides the bus, you will need to make arrangements in order for them to arrive at the Junior High in time. We MUST be at Canton High School before 8:00am**

As soon as we finish up with our performance we will load the buses and head to Splash Kingdom.

Splash Kingdom AttireStudents will have time to change into swimsuits when we arrive at Splash Kingdom. Students MUST wear appropriate attire for swimming. Have an extra change of clothes for the trip back to Kemp.

What to bring: swimwear, extra change of clothes, sun screen, towel, flip flops or water shoes, hat, sunglasses, extra money for snacks, food, and drinks. No outside food or drinks are allowed in the park.

We will arrive back at Kemp Junior High around 3:30 pm.

Chaperones: We are in need of 5 adult chaperones/volunteers (parent or grandparent) for this trip. There are requirements that the district has in order to be a chaperone. If you are interested in helping, please contact me no later than Wednesday, May 8th. This will be on a first-come first-serve basis.

We only have a few more weeks of school left and quite a few events for our Junior High students. Please make arrangements for your child on the dates that apply to them. All of these events will be in the evening.

7th/8th Grade UIL Contest- March 27th

The 7th and 8th Grade band members will be travelling to Canton High School this Wednesday, March 27th to compete at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Only eligible students will be travelling with us. 7th grade will be competing in the morning and 8th grade will compete in the afternoon. Please check the appropriate list for the students that will be out at each designated time. This is a required event and will count as a test grade. Ineligible students will be completing an alternate assignment in order to fulfill this grade.

*All students must be wearing their Orange Band Polo, Black pants/black jeans, and closed-toed shoes. We cannot afford to leave anyone behind due to not wearing the proper attire.
